Auggie Service Day
Saturday, April 16 th
9 AM- 2 PM
Augsburg College (Foss Chapel)
ELCA junior high and high school youth groups ages 13 and up
(1 adult to every 8 youth)
Possible Activities of the day:
- Interactive simulation on hunger
- An opportunity for hands-on service
- Music
- Reflection on the connection between faith and service
- Food and fellowship
Auggie Service Day is intended to help youth in our synod to interact with youth of different backgrounds and learn more about hunger and social justice in relation to the church. The theme verse is:
Being Christ’s Hands and Feet
But now, up on your feet--I have a job for you. I've handpicked you to be a servant and witness to what's happened today . . .

We request that all churches who might be interested would RSVP by March 15 th with a rough estimate about how many youth from their church might attend this event and we will then send more information about this event. Due to limited space, we will take youth groups on a “first-come, first-serve” basis until that date. We hope to have a bus to use to transport students that day, but it would be helpful to know what churches would have vehicles to be used if need be. Also, we request that parents be notified according to church policy that they will be either riding in a bus purchased by Augsburg or in a church vehicle.
Lastly, we are suggesting that each youth group attempt to raise twenty-five dollars to cover the cost of the day. The money will go towards transportation and the cost of purchasing food. However, if this is a burden, please do not let this deter your youth group from attending. Furthermore, if larger youth groups would like to work to raise more money to donate to this cause, that would be appreciated, as well.
Attached is a flyer that you may use to advertise this event to your youth/adult leaders. We will also send out Bible study materials about hunger, service and faith that can be used prior to and after the event.

- Your church name
- Your name
- A number to be contacted at
- An estimation of how many youth will attend (please be as accurate as possible)
- An estimation of how many adult chaperones will attend
- How much money you expect to raise
- Whether or not you have a church vehicle to be used that day.
